Law 360 (subscription news service) is reporting today that a U.S. Senate committee approved a budget for the FDA and USDA that would deliver $1 billion in funding for the USDA’s food inspection unit, a sum larger than the agency had requested.
The FDA would receive $2.52 billion total in fiscal year 2013 under a budget sent to the Senate floor by the Committee on Appropriations. That figure does not include funding derived from user fee programs, which Congress is working to reauthorize.
Check back for more details as they emerge.
